Coconut Oil Cooking Versus Olive Oil (and video)
Hi,
You are probably going to find this post as informative as I did when it comes to coconut oil cooking versus olive oil.
I have been using extra virgin olive oil in our cooking do to extra virgin oil oil’s health benefits (to read more on extra virgin olive oil, click here.)
After hearing about coconut oil’s health benefits, I decided I was going to look into this myself.
Here’s what I found out:
Because your body needs SATURATED FAT, a person should consider using coconut oil when cooking.
Extra-virgin olive oil is a better monounsaturated fat. It works great in its uncooked form as a salad dressing, but because it has unsaturated fat in it, it can become chemically altered when you cook with it.
Due to the chemical structure of extra-virgin olive oil, cooking makes it susceptible to oxidative damage.
Take a look at this informative video:
Make your oil choice based on the fact that it will not be damaged (molecularly altered) when you cook with it.
If the taste of olive oil is a problem, or if you are frying or sautéing food, then you should consider the best choice to cook with, even better than olive oil, is coconut oil because it is essentially all saturated fat.
In conclusion…
Use coconut oil when cooking
Use olive oil in its raw form (like salad dressing or dipping)
